We had a lot of fun celebrating Dr. Seuss during Read Across America Week. Students enjoyed wearing their pajamas, having D.E.A.R (Drop Everything and Read), dressing up like their favorite storybook character, drawing the Cat in the Hat, creating their own 'Wocket in a Pocket' to decorate our door and turning themselves into a 'Thing' for our Reading is our Thing bulletin board.  They also worked hard on an opinion writing piece. Students wrote about their favorite book and gave reasons why it is their favorite. We took this particular writing piece through the whole writing process. Students used a graphic organizer, wrote a first draft then edited and revised their writing. Last, they published their writing by completing a final draft. They are AMAZING writers!
