Picturing Writing

We recently started working on our Sun's Day book. Students painted daytime using crayon resist and watercolor paints. We then used our beautiful pictures to brainstorm juicy, descriptive words that described our sun, the sky and other elements in our paintings. After, we used the words we brainstormed to help us write 'I am' poems about the sun. Here are a few examples of our paintings:
